Why the Biden administration plan to reclassify marijuana matters

For decades, the United States’ “war on drugs” moved in one punitive direction. As the Biden administration’s dramatic moves help prove, it’s a new day.

I found this article today on MSNBC

In 2022, the President announced an executive action that pardoned thousands of people convicted of marijuana possession under federal law.

With the biggest change for the good in 50 years, marijuana is being moved from a Schedule I drug like heroin and methamphetamines to a Schedule III drug like Tylenol with codeine and testosterone!

This move will make it easier to research cannabis which has been a problem for years. It also moves the cannabis businesses from under section 280 E of the federal tax code that allows for much more normal taxable practices.

As always with federal policies, we still have a ways to go with being published, then a 60 day public comment period, then a review by a judge who can decide to have a hearing.

The administration is for this and there seems to be no serious opposition to it, so it is just going to take a little time.

Keep your boots on and your fingers crossed. We’re getting there.
